Halloween Illustrations

Objective:  To examine the traditions of Halloween as they relate to art.  To juxtapose images and ideas in order to create original artwork.

Steps:

1.  Choose a character from the list provided:

Example characters:

wolf with mange

headless soldier

rotting pumpkin head

unraveling mummy

a black cat in a Halloween costume

a swamp man

a living, walking. evil tree

evil clown

2.  Draw your character on an 8x12 sheet of white paper in pencil.

3.  Choose a setting from the list provided.

Example settings:

an abandoned mall

a broken down car on a deserted road

bottom of a lake

ship wreck

scary forest

a burning ghost town

a dark alley

4.  On a sheet of 12x18 drawing paper, draw your character within your selected setting.  Then color.

Examples:

  A deranged monkey in a well

  A three-headed with in a graveyard

  A scarecrow in a forest
