Movie Posters
Objective: To use the elements of art and principles of design to create posters that emphasize the main idea, concept or action of a specific movie.
Steps:
1. Choose a current movie that you have seen that you like, unless otherwise instructed.
2. Determine what the main idea or concept of the movie is.
3. Distinguish what the most memorable part of the movie, the climax, or something that can describe the excitement of the movie in one illustration.
4. Draw at least five thumbnail sketches of ideas for the layout of your poster.
5. Pick your best idea out of the sketches. Remember, you are trying to get the attention of viewers, in order to make them want to see the movie. Your illustration has to be attention-getting.
6. Redraw your poster on 15x20 inch paper, and add color where needed, using the medium of your choice. Make your colors solid and crisp, to avoid distracting from the image.
