Oil pastels and watercolor
Objective: To experiment and demonstrate the proper use of oil pastels with watercolor.
Steps:
1. On a 12x18 sheet of paper, draw an illustration in pencil, from a still life or from your imagination.
2. Outline your illustration with oil pastels, bearing down with the crayons as you color.
3. Experiment with different colors, leaving random white areas.
4. Using watercolor, paint over the oil pastels, filling in the white areas. The oil in the pastels will resist the watercolor.
5. Fill the entire page with color. You can even go back in and add more oil pastel after the watercolor paint has dried.
