Grades K-4th Art and Technology Ideas

 

K-2nd  Art and Technology ideas

 

  1. Students will learn compound words by creating the word combinations with Kid Pix stamp tool.
  2. Students will learn the concept of opposites with Kid Pix stamps.
  3. Students will use Microsoft Paint or Kid Pix to create flowers with their digital pictures in the center of them.
  4. Create a website where kids can publish their Kid Pix pictures and stories online.
  5. Students will learn Math by adding and subtracting images on a Math program.
  6. Students will solve puzzles created in HyperStudio or Flash.
  7. Students will play computer games designed to teach basic reading, spelling, and math skills.

 

3rd-4th Art and Technology ideas

  1. Students will use the Internet to research different types of insects and then write about which insect they would like to be, and finally, draw the insect using a Paint program or import a picture of the insect into Word.
  2. Students will use the Internet to research facts about a specific animal.  Students will then use Kid Pix to draw the animal or import a picture from the Internet and draw lines to facts and stamps about the animal they researched.
  3. Students will use Kid Pix to write a short story about their vacation or summer activities, using stamps in the place of particular words.
  4. Students will learn about polygons by using the pencil tool, the line tool, the circle tool and the square tool in Kid Pix.
  5. Students will use the Internet to learn about Folk art and about the folk artists of Nova Scotia.
  6. Have kids write their own stories, complete with illustrations.  Use Word for the writing part of the lesson.
  7. Students will illustrate an existing fairytale by making an empty storybook, finding images online that they can use as borders or backgrounds, and then illustrating their story.
  8. Students will create nature collages by printing off pictures of animals and nature scenes from the Internet and then gluing them together on construction paper and filling in the white spaces with their own illustrations or with objects from nature that they have collected.
  9. Students will use Word to keep a daily journal of activities and fun things about themselves.
  10. Students will use a Paint program to create quilting squares, which can then be printed off and arranged together onto construction paper to make a quilt.
  11. Students will use interactive Internet “games” created in Flash to learn just about anything from spelling to science to social studies—endless ideas.
  12. Students will go through easy to follow, adventurous web quests to find information on particular subjects.
  13. Students will use Yahooligans! Search engine to research anything from presidents to important dates in history to famous African-Americans, and then create a scrapbook on their findings.
  14. Students will research a country on the Internet and then create that country’s flag.
  15. Students will use Inspiration for brainstorming activities.
  16. Students will use the Internet and field trips with demonstrations to learn about health issues like correct posture or muscle injuries, and then illustrate the information they have learned.
