2nd Six Weeks--Sequencing

Week 7
1. LINE--memorize 7 types of lines--for pop quiz
Gesture lines and contour lines--timed gesture drawings and blind contour drawings.
2. Still Life gesture drawing in ink with shading techniques and with added patterns of line types in the background.
3. Add spots of color to illustration, using watercolor. Finish as HW. Lists of natural and man-made lines.
4. Career #7--Newspaper advertisement--create a newspaper ad for any company with finished ink still life. Finish as HW.
5. Career #8--Photography--How to use a digital camera with different filters. How to manipulate in Microsoft Paint. --Journal 1 due--4 detailed studies + 1 manipulated photograph in Paint.
Week 8
6. Artist #7--Ansel Adams--Practice setting up pictures and taking pictures with digital camera, in black and white--some outside.
7. Artist #8--Piet Mondrain--"De Stijl"--practice piece of combining horizontal and vertical lines with primary colors and black.
8. Career #9--Graphic design letterhead and envelope--Use personal information with De Stijl design to create a matching letterhead and envelope. Finish as HW.
9. Artist #9--Wassily Kandinsky--Abstract Expressionism--Random abstracted lines with color mixes.
10. Career #10--Wall Paper Border design--Using abstract expressionistic design, create a wall paper border on long, slender sheet of butcher paper. Finish as HW. --Journal 2 due--4 detailed studies + 1 collage of black and white pictures over one theme.
Week 9
11. Scribble Scrabble Art--painting without a brush--dripping, splattering, using sticks, strings--controlling paint to create simple pictures.
12. Artist #10--Jackson Pollock--Abstract Expressionism--create small sample of Pollock's style, using one defined color scheme.
13. Decalcomania--creating abstract designs with marbled paint on folded paper--look for images in the finished design.
14. Add illustrations to decalcomania designs, using crayon, oil pastels, or markers. Finish as HW.
15. Drawing houses with surrounding landscape--dividing into 9 sections and adding line patterns. --Journal 3 due--4 detailed studies + 1 floor plan of your home.
Week 10
16. Adding a different color scheme to each section of house design. Finish as HW.
17. Career #11--Real estate flyer--Design a real estate flyer, using the house design with type and a small floor plan of the house. Go over drawing floor plans. Finish as HW.
18. Non-objective art-- combines lines with patterns and colors in specific random spaces.
19. Finish non-objective piece. Finsh as HW.
20. Artist #11--Gustav Klimt--Art Nouveau--create collage of flat patterns, using magazine pictures, construction paper, etc. that illustrates a specific theme. Finish as HW. --Journal 4 due-- 4 detailed studies + 1 small non-obj piece.
Week 11
21. Organic patterns--still life drawing of vegetables and plants, using oil pastels and watercolor--Fall pictures. Finish as HW.
22. Career #12--Fabric design--design window curtains on a drawn window (on butcher paper), using patterns of glued down yarn. Finish as HW. Design Halloween pictures and costumes.
23. Organic patterns in animals. In groups of 2-3, design and paint a Safari mural. (5 thumbnails of ideas)
24. Work on Safari murals.
25. Work on Safari murals. --Journal 5 due--4 detailed studies + 1 study of a jungle animal
Week 12
26. Career #13--Psychotherapy--analyzing reactions to abstract pictures and optical illusions. Career #14--Virtual reality--creating 3 D illusions. Finish Safari pictures.
27. Artist #12--M. C. Escher --Op Art-- Begin Optical Illusions (5 thumbnails for ideas).
28. Finish optical illusions. Finish as HW.
29. Makeup work
